In this week’s episode we talk to Alex Hearn, experienced Placemaking specialist, and former Assistant Director (Placemaking and Growth) for North Somerset Council.

Alex discusses how public and private organisations involved in Weston are working together to bring to life the Super Weston placemaking strategy, and his vision for the future of Weston.  

Alex shared his views on:

  • What placemaking is and why it’s important 
  • What the Super Weston strategy is all about 
  • The new projects in Weston which are benefiting from the £20m levelling-up fund
  • Why it is important to get the right private investment into Weston and how that can help boost the local economy 
  • The importance of culture as a key component for connecting the community, acting as a skills provider and a key ingredient for attracting investment.  

Alex also shares his favourite places for coffee, to eat out and to shop in Weston.
